Our Grow Your Own project supports people across Westmorland & Furness and Cumberland to get job-ready through:

  • Volunteering: Supporting you to access volunteering opportunities

  • Training and education: Building skills and confidence in your desired role

  • Practical skills and experience: Practical work training and experience opportunities

  • Well-being: Improving health and well-being, reducing social isolation, and building resilience

  • Connections: Making new friends and supporting you into new networks

  • Recruitment: Connecting individuals with placement opportunities

With an active approach of engagement and monitoring participants, we work to support them gain valuable training and experience, moving them into paid employment or volunteering roles.

Why It Matters

By reducing economic inactivity, the Grow Your Own project improves well-being, tackles the barriers that prevent some groups from working, and offers everyone the opportunity to have a career they want.

These barriers include:

  • Discrimination

  • Lack of childcare

  • Limited transport options

  • Social challenges like poverty, homelessness, and isolation.
