Our Grow Your Own Employability Scheme supports people across Westmorland & Furness and Cumberland to get job-ready through:

• Recruitment: Connecting individuals with placement opportunities

• Training: Building skills, confidence and practical experience in their desired role

• Well-being: Reducing social isolation, building social relationships, increasing resilience and mental health

• Volunteering: Offering on-the-job placements with potential employers with a view to progressing into paid employment

With an active approach of engagement and monitoring participants gain valuable training and experience, moving them into paid employment or volunteering roles.

Why It Matters

By reducing economic inactivity, the scheme improves well-being, tackles the barriers that prevent some groups from working, and offers everyone the opportunity to have a career they want.

These barriers include:

• Discrimination

• Lack of childcare

• Limited transport options
