Kerrie Hudson is the Chief Operating Officer of The Well Communities, and a committed advocate for recovery and community transformation. As one of the founding members of The Well, she has been instrumental in shaping vital services across Cumbria and Lancashire, ensuring people have access to the support they need to thrive.
In 2021, Kerrie received an MBE for her contribution to this cause in her hometown of Morecambe. It was an honour and a privilege for Kerrie to accept this award and have her contributions acknowledged in such a way, as she comes from a humble background.
In November, Kerrie will be celebrating 18 years in abstinence-based recovery. “Every day I am proud to have broken free from addiction and alcoholism. For each day that I live this life, I get to show people all that is possible and all that can be achieved in recovery. I do my level best to draw from my personal experience to break down barriers to treatment and support, helping to create safe, empowering environments for individuals and families.”
Kerrie’s professional background is strengthened by a BA Hons in Religious Studies and a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management, alongside deep expertise in staff development, organisational culture and project management. Through every interaction, Kerrie successfully tries to show empathy, resilience and passion, supporting people to live their truest, fullest lives. Beyond her role at The Well Communities, Kerrie is proud mother of four and a grandmother to a beautiful girl named Olive. Family is central to Kerrie’s life. It's everything and this is what she has tried to replicate within The Well. Family can mean many things to many people, but for The Well, it's a place to belong, to be nurtured and held, a placed to be supported and more importantly, a place to show up, as yourself and be surrounded by cheerleaders who want nothing but the best for you. Kerrie personally was raised in an abusive, alcoholic home and try as they might, her parents fell short of creating such an environment for her. It is with this in mind that The Well Communities was formed: To provide the right environment at the right time for people to rest amongst their peers, build themselves back up and go out into the world and claim all it has to offer.
Kerrie was able to transform her early challenges in life and make a difference to individuals and communities and continues to do her best by learning new ways to support others in their journeys, in a warm and dedicated way.
