Steve has joined The Well Communities’ team as Interim Finance Director, whilst fulfilling his current role as Director of Finance and Business at People First.

With 26 years of finance experience, Steve has worked in private companies, including in hospitality and translation services. His first foray into the third sector was in 2023 when he joined People First, and he believes that he has finally found his true home. In his own words, working to support people who ‘need’ rather than ‘want’ is especially rewarding.

Steve’s first task with People First was to transform the finance function after a period of team instability. He has since brought together key functions (Finance, HR, Quality, Communications, IT and Admin) into one core team. Processes have been implemented or streamlined to provide efficiencies and underpin every area of delivery. His leadership has helped to shape the future of the organisation.

Originally from Greater Manchester, Steve always craved an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, so he took advantage of working from home during the first Covid lockdown to move to Cumbria with his wife and two boys. Throwing in his Manchester City season ticket after 30 years was a small price to pay for a peaceful country lifestyle.
